75 LB V-Force Long Weight Vest with Wide Shoulders

I have purchased several weightvest.com vests over the years with both Narrow and Wide Shoulders , and Long and Short lengths–this is my sixth. I am familiar with the other high quality vests on the market and am particular concerning quality and build construction. I buy things to last a life time and I can attest that weightvest.com are so in this regard. The stitching and attention to detail are second to none and the fabric is top quality.

As stated on their website narrow shoulders are for overhead exercises and the wide shoulders are for more endurance type exercises. I own both and the Wider Shoulder will be more comfortable for activities that last a long time or for exercises that do not require overhead reaches. I use my narrow vests to anchor myself to the floor when doing lat-pulldowns with a pulley system anchored to a power rack which works extremely well and saves a lot of floor space and costs for a lat -pulldown machine (climbing rescue pulleys are the smoothest on the market in this application.

The advantage of the wide shoulders and longer vests is comfort. The longer dimension also gives the option of distributing the weight either higher or lower if loaded to less than capacity. As mentioned on their site the longer vests can have weight lower which reduces the core activation due to reduced torque on the torso. If one wants more activation than load weight higher on the vest.

If one is going to do a variety of different exercises and wants more options than a long vest would be an excellent option as it can be loaded from very light to full capacity. They are more expensive but if one wants more options they are an excellent choice.

If one has a specific application for the vest than buy the vest accordingly, but I would always opt for a heavier vest to give more options whether the vest is short /long/wide/narrow.

There is a slight advantage in vests that have at least one row with an odd number of weights (3 or 5 plates). This allows absolutely even distribution of weight from front to back no matter what weight is selected as long as the number of plates is the same both front and back.

So my best recommendation is to buy the Shoulder Width that is most useful for you and one with at least one row with odd number of plates. Long or short is a choice you will have to make after considering all uses for the vest. The best of both worlds would be to purchase both a wide and narrow vest and select the lengths accordingly based upon your need.

I hope this review is useful for you. I give weightvest.com my highest recommendation.

    Best Wishes,
    Ellis (a very satisfied customer)
