Email 11: New Vest
WeightVest.com, Inc. continues to plow ahead. Introducing the new 25 lb. Runner's & Walker's weight vest, designed to add a new, higher level of metabolism to the body.
"Everything that can be invented has been invented." - Charles H. Duell, Commissioner, U.S. Office of Patents, 1889. Hmmmmmmm. Well, I hope your new year has started in the right direction. I was reading about the porters in Nepal and how they carry loads on their heads! Why? Because they can carry the load with less expended energy than backpackers when climbing some of the world's tallest mountains. It is a biomechanical phenomenon. The interesting point of the article being that backpackers expend much more energy with the same load! Basically, burning more calories. Touche' for weight vest training!
I am training for several triathlons this spring and summer and for a summit of the Grand Tetons in July. The training is eye deep in weight vest implimentation. I cycle the vest usage, 1 day on - 1 off and increase the load gradually. I monitor my times closely and am aware of my recuperation. Stretching is minimal, not that I don't believe in it, I just don't feel the need to be extremely limber. I rather spend as much time as possible on core training principles.
The new 25 lb. vest is a good weight for the average runner/walker. I think it will be a good seller, as I get a lot of people looking for a high quality vest that will fit right and last a long time. I personally will train with my 50 lb. vest and use around 30 lbs. for most of my running. I am also attempting to walk 12 miles in 4 hours with 100 lbs, but will start that phase of training in about 3 months. My son, Jacob, soon to be Dr. Egbert, will be helping me with details on this feat.

Email 12: Best price guaranteed.
Friends, the time is coming that our all time low pricing will have to experience an increase due to world market forces. If you have the plan to purchase a weight vest from me, do it before January 9th. Costs of materials, which are top notch, are all going up this year. We will keep the world-famous quality of our vests the same or improve it as always, but the cost of goods demands this price increase. V-Max will still be the lowest priced highest quality vest on the market - I guarantee it! Tell your friends who may want a vest to do it soon. Save now. The expected rush on orders will delay the shipments just a couple days, but we will hurry to get it to you as fast as possible.

Email 13: Fat
Extra body fat can hinder athletic performance. If you are a runner for example, and have extra fat you lug around from point A to B, it would be less effort and perhaps more enjoyable if you were lighter. How is the best way to lose the extra fat? The formula is simple - burn more calories than you consume. Your options are to run longer or increase the intensity by either running uphill or adding weight, maybe both. Regardless, the result would be that you would burn more calories. Second, consume less calories. Don't eat as much. I prefer to increase the intensity rather than cut my diet. I feel that if I monitor what I eat and don't over do it I can maintain a healthy diet and just increase the intensity a bit. This balance can best be monitored by taking measurements. Measure your waist once a week and see if it is getting smaller or larger. Adjust your diet a bit to match your expected out come. Ankle weights, weight belts and weight vests are added to increase the intensity, each has its own benefits. I just happen to sell weight vests, and I truly believe they are superior in every way. Ankle weights can damage the ankle by repetitive pounding and hyper extension of the joint. Weight belts have some usefulness as they do add weight to the legs, but they neglect the core-body musculature. Weight vests cover the whole gamut of body loading dynamics.
