About the Ultimate weight vest challenge, I want to walk 12 miles with a 100 lb. V-Max weight vest in less than 4 hours. I know it sounds easy, but believe me, it's not. I will have to work up to it. I am in pretty good shape for my age (49), and will have to do some serious training. Look for the articles to appear in future emailings, and a link to show the whole stunt in photos and documentary wordage etc. I will post a progress report in my emailings to let you know how I'm doing in preparation. I will tell you what I do to prepare and what I do to get my self ready.
Unless you can afford 2nd day air, I don't think I can get you a V-Max weighted vest in time for Christmas. But there's still a new year coming, and I for one am taking my fitness to a whole new level!

Email 9: Swimming?

I get about 2 people a month ask me a very stoopid question, "Can I swim with your weight vest?" Now, the answer is always no. Let's face it, if you put on maybe 2.5 or maybe 5 lbs and jump in the lake you will have a more difficult time keeping your head above water, but any more than this you might never get your head above water again on your own power.
I'm a certified scuba diver, (NAUI certified sport diver), and part of my training taught me to use a quick release dive belt (weights to keep you down). I think my belt was made by Scuba Pro. The buckle was designed to simply undo within a second, and the clasp was easy to grip even with a neoprene gloved hand. The purpose was to save your life in a malfunction. So, if you go swimming with a weight vest and you run into trouble, how the heck do you remove it quickly and safely? YOU DON'T!!
Just don't ever do it. I don't recommend it. I don't want the liability, I'm no fool.
Yes, we sell vests to sky divers, but even their training teaches them to stay clear of water.
Stay on dry ground with your weight vest and you will be much safer and healthier.

Email 10: Desire

I�m running out of time. As I write this email, the last one in 05, I look at the clock on the wall, 10:55 AM, what will be my fate in the next year? What will I do with my life for good, either for myself or for others? What goals will I set now that will help me improve? It�s probably the same self analyzing going on around the globe. The triple black dog double dare to infinity is the mother of all dares. I�ve never heard it before, but I imagine if I were a kid and faced a dare in these terms it would be tough to ignore. My advisor at BYU Provo, Brent Weidman, gave me a card when I graduated, it had his name and contact info on one side, but on the other side was only the word "GOTTAWANNA". I have never forgotten these words since. They have been like a small helm on a large ship keeping it work ways against the storm. 2006 will in no doubt or small measure, be a year to remember as was 2005. I for one will make it the best year ever. Join me.
